Lehighton, PA to Gettysburg, PA

We awoke Sunday morning to more heavy rain. Bill was concerned that he would not be able to get his tent dried out before leaving the campground. Getting it dried out before leaving was important because he owns a small apartment in Queens, NY and there is no place there to dry it out. We suggested putting it in a dryer, but Bill said he did that to a tent once and the plastic bottom melted! He finally just stuffed it in a couple of bags and will ask friends in Brooklyn to hang it outside until dry. Bill and Eric headed back to NYC and we headed south. We took PA Hwy 443, I81 to Harrisburg, the Pennsylvania state capital, and stopped at Costco for gas and.... . Then south on US 15 to Gettysburg, PA. Arriving at Artillery Ridge Campground, we were happy the skies were blue, and no rain in sight. If you have ever been to this part of the country, you are aware how quickly the weather can change. Well, soon after arriving we could hear loud claps of thunder, but still blue skies. Louder and louder came the thunder, then the lightning and soon we were in yet another downpour. As nephew Rodger would say later by telephone, the good news is that all the bugs on the windshield and grill were probably washed off. And, he was right!
