Greeneville, Tennessee
We stayed at a GLBT owned campground near Greeneville, TN. We arrived Friday afternoon and left this morning. It was very relaxing, time that we needed to rest up after driving 3677 miles thus far! Lots of time was spent by the pool. We did take Tinsel a few miles down the road to a school yard for exercise each day. In addition to the pool, the campground has a small tavern/dance bar where an all male square dancing group (this is Tennessee after all), entertained. In our travels over the years, we have not experienced any thefts at campgrounds. After putting out our awning this weekend, we hung a large nylon "whirligig" from it. Upon, returning from the pool, we noticed the "whirligig" missing. Because it had been secured well, it was unlikely to have blown away. The next day, we were walking around the campground and discovered it hanging from the owner's permanent mobile home far from where our RV was parked. Richard promptly went onto their deck and grabbed it off! We were reminded of our trip to Peru several years ago when a thief standing on the road stole Richard's watch off his arm while in a tour van, and Richard promptly "stole" it back. While we otherwise enjoyed our stay, that episode tarnished our view of this campground. To the right is a photo of our 1991 Toyota P/U, which we are towing behind the RV. Note the kayaks on the roof and over the truck bed.
