Niagara Falls, NY to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
When we left Four Mile Creek Campground, it was necessary to find a UPS store in order to send out a package which had to arrive in San Diego tomorrow. We were able to find the UPS distribution center in Buffalo, NY near the airport. We then traveled south on US Hwy 219, in the process avoiding Interstate 90 which was a toll road. After some miles, we saw on the map that Jamestown, NY was not far away, so we turned onto Interstate 86 and traveled west to Jamestown. You might remember Jamestown as the birthplace of Lucille Ball. She referred to it many times on her famous TV show, "I Love Lucy." Since they have a museum there for all things "Lucy" (and Desi), we decided to check it out. Photo of museum's exterior. Unfortunately, no photography or video was allowed inside. There is also a gift shop where you can purchase Lucy and Desi (and Fred and Ethyl) tee shirts, coffee mugs, etc. Richard did buy an "I Love Lucy" postcard to send to our friend Bobby in San Diego...a big fan of the show. Photo also of an old Erie Railroad bridge in Jamestown. We then traveled south to the suburbs of Pittsburgh to Costco for gas and to purchase some items in the store. Only three other cars were at the gas pumps and very few customers in the store....quite a difference from southern California. We then traveled a few more miles, arriving at Mountain Top Campground just outside Pittsburgh just before dusk. This campground is, like the name implies, on a flat top mountain, and has 360 degree views below.
