Winamac, IN to Spearsville, Indiana
We left Tippecanoe State Park on Thursday afternoon and headed south. On the way we traveled through Kokomo, Indiana. There we approached a huge manufacturing plant, but there were only about a dozen vehicles in the parking lot. As we passed by we saw that it was the plant where Chrysler trasmissions are made. We later spoke with a Chrysler retiree and learned that the plant had been shut down for several weeks, and numerous layoffs resulted in a devastating effect on the local economy. We were short on groceries so we stopped at a Costco. Because it was so warm, and Tinsel was going to be by herself in the RV while we were in the store, we turned on the generator so we could have the air conditioning run inside the coach. Strangely, the generator would not start. Looking around, we saw that all power was off inside. Fortunately, Steve, who has become somewhat of a RV repair expert, went to the battery compartment and discovered one of the battery cables had become disconnected. Luckily, the nut which holds the cables down was still there...sitting on top of the battery. After a few minutes, we were on our way and Tinsel had her air conditioning! Groceries were purchased (along with two hand dipped ice cream bars....photo to the right) and we continued to our next stop....Camp Buckwood near Spearsville, Indiana. There is plenty of open grass here for Tinsel to fetch tennis balls and swim in the pond (photo of pond). There are also lots of rabbits here. Photo to the right she is pointing at a rabbit. We were going to have her swim in the pond, but the weather here has been unseasonably cool. Too cool also for the swimming pool for us...but the campground does have a hot tub! Next blog will likely be on Monday from Indianapolis.
